Mon Castro, named one of the top 10 pioneering leaders revolutionizing the entertainment field by LA Weekly, is an award-winning Mexican filmmaker based in Los Angeles.

She graduated from Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión with a degree in Film and Television, and later earned her MFA in Producing at the American Film Institute Conservatory. She has experience on both office and set in two countries, and her work has been screened in multiple international film festivals.

Most recently, her film CUANDO VOLVIMOS A LA TIERRA was a finalist of the McDonald's Spotlight Dorado competition. Among her recognitions, her film IM FINSTERN received the prestigious Owen Roizman Student Heritage ASC award, and her directing debut THE PHYSICIST IN OUTER SPACE was awarded the Special Jury Award and Best Indie Filmmaker at Top Shorts, as well as Best Comedy at the Hollywood Verge Film Awards.

Mon was also featured in the 30 under 30 list of Filmmakers Connect.

Mon holds a special affinity for all things horror, genre and camp. She is also interested in feminism, LGBTQIA+ stories, animals, and changing her hair color.
